On Thursday, November 3rd, 28 Bank of America employees teamed up with YouthBuild Boston (YBB) students and staff to make improvements for two of Roxbury’s greatest community assets: Hawthorne Youth and Community Center (HYCC) and Haley House.
This service day, we decided to work with Paige Academy and with the members of BSBC. Paige Academy offers a far reaching educational environment for children of ages 6-12. The prep school has been a long standing partner of Youth Build and has been a reliable project sponsor to our organization for over the last few years.
YBB serves young people aged 14-24 in Boston and its surrounding areas. These communities are plagued with high crime rates, unemployment, and a high number of young people who lack basic literacy skills. The organization offers vocational training, as well as specialized programs such as uBuild, which engages youth as volunteers to lead meaningful community rehabilitation projects for local nonprofits, and The Designery, an afterschool/college readiness program that exposes secondary students to architecture/urban design.
