Enrique Guillen
Before I came to YBB I was going through a lot of stuff. From dead end jobs, going to college and leaving it because I was feeling like school wasn’t for me. I just wanted to chill with friends and be on the block doing my thing. Then I started realizing that not caring about anything is not a way to live. My cousin who used to come here told me about YBB. I decided to see what YBB was about. When I found out more, I decided to join.
I want to be an architect. But before I head in that direction I want to know about carpentry, so I can have some hands-on experience when I go back to school for architecture.
I’m good at drawing -- I love to draw. It’s my tranquility -- Where my mind is at peace and I’m just away from everybody, not thinking about anything but the pencil, paper, and object I’m drawing. That’s what I enjoy doing in my spare time. In general, I just like being creative: drawing, rapping, and making things with my hands.
The people who are important in my life are my family, especially my mom and pop. They really inspired me to do a lot of things that have helped me in my life, giving advice and just being there for me when I really needed them.
Success!
Enrique secured a full-time apprenticeship with D'Allesandro Corp. in April 2011.
