Building the Next Generation of Women in the Trades
Birdhouse Building Workshop for Girls (Ages 10–14)
YouthBuild Boston is proud to partner with Girls Rising in Trades (GRIT) to host an upcoming hands-on workshop designed to introduce young girls to the world of building and the skilled trades.
On Saturday, March 21, 2026, girls ages 10–14 will have the opportunity to design and build their own birdhouses while learning from experienced mentors and women working in construction.
This interactive workshop is about more than just building a project, it’s about building confidence, curiosity, and exposure to new career possibilities.
Participants will learn basic building techniques, work with tools, and collaborate in a supportive environment that encourages creativity and problem-solving.
What participants will experience
During the workshop, participants will:

🌿 Connect creativity with nature through birdhouse design
💡 Build confidence by completing a hands-on project
🤝 Work alongside supportive mentors and women in construction
No prior experience is needed—just curiosity and a willingness to create. Each participant will leave with a birdhouse they built themselves and new skills to be proud of.
