Each One, Teach One. GRIT x ybb
This past weekend, we partnered with GRIT (Girls Rising in the Trades) to host an Each One, Teach one event with a hands-on birdhouse-building workshop for participants ages 10–14.
GRIT does really important work. Through workshops, mentorship, and community partnerships, they introduce girls to the skilled trades early, giving them space to explore, build confidence, and see themselves in industries where women have historically been underrepresented. That’s something we connect with deeply as our mission aligns with theirs; we’re both about opening doors for young people who deserve to walk through them.
What made the workshop extra special, was that two of our own showed up as leaders. YouthBuild Boston alum Ianee and current pre-apprentice Kass stepped in as teachers, walking participants through the birdhouse build and supporting them the whole way.
It was more than just a workshop; this was about creating space. A space for young girls to explore the trades, build confidence in their abilities, and see themselves in environments they may not have been exposed to before.
We’re proud of everyone who was part of making this happen and to work alongside community partners who are committed to uplifting our youth to their fullest potential.
